Christmas is around the corner now; no doubt you’ll be getting together with friends and family and if you have little children its all the more special!
There are so many exciting aspects of Christmas for young kids; everything from the smell of the Christmas tree, seeing the presents under the tree and the magical ambience that seems to be in the
air at this time.
Something else many of us associate with Christmas time is reruns of old Christmas themed movies on the telly. You’ll notice that TV networks often play
the same films every year on Christmas night and there’s something special about relaxing after a feast and enjoying a classic with family.
This being the case, you’ll want to have your TV in full working order. If you’re experiencing any issues with reception, refer to our step-by-step
checklist below and avoid missing the best Christmas TV shows!
1.Check for deteriorated cables
Over the years, it’s not uncommon for cables and wires to become deteriorated with continued use. This includes the cables running from your television to
your antenna. It can be due to the environmental conditions such as rain or strong winds. If you face consistent poor TV reception during or after rain, it’s likely the digital antenna cables have
become dislodged or aren’t making contact properly. It is always recommended to use RG6 cables for TV antenna installation due to its better protection standards. Try unplugging and re-plugging all the
cables and if that isn’t working it might be time to replace them. TV points installation plays a vital role thus assure they are ok before the upcoming Christmas TV shows.
2. Check for TV antenna alignment issues
The location or the angle of the digital TV antenna makes a big difference in the quality of your digital TV reception. It is best to find out the
direction of the TV signals, and align the digital antenna to face the transmitter tower. If your antenna has been installed incorrectly or in a less than favourable position, this may be the cause
of the issue. It can also be due to high buildings or trees in your area.
The solution for this problem depends on your specific situation, however relocating the antenna and/or adding boosters and signal amplifiers. You can
also try locating your Digital TV antenna at a higher position or sometimes wall mounting your TV itself to a different location. Your local digital TV antenna specialists would be able to help you
find best TV reception solutions with their reception mapping tools.
3. Incorrect splitters used
Older installations may have screw type splitters. These older splitters can be unproductive and may not be in the best condition to receive the
intended signal. TV reception solutions can also be based on the use of right type of splitter for the task. If a 3 points splitter is used when a 2 point splitter is more appropriate, there
could also be a possible loss of signal leading to poor TV reception.
4. Other electronic interference
Keeping your digital TV antenna away from electronic devices is one of the basics when it comes to TV reception solutions. This includes other
electronic devices such as TVs, DVD players, radios, microwaves, computers and even large metal objects. Make sure they’re kept at least a few feet away from your digital antenna, if
you’re using an indoor one.
If you are not sure on how to rectify your digital TV reception problem, it is best to contact your local digital antenna installation specialist.
At Local Bloke Antenna Services, we would be able to provide you with best TV reception solutions for any of your TV disruptions in hand.

The television has been a centre piece of the Australian household for decades now, yet until relatively recently it was not exactly a feature that would be
considered all that versatile from an aesthetic perspective. Today however, televisions are large, streamlined, attractive and can be displayed in the home in a variety of ways. TV wall mounting has
become the best way to display the television as it doesn’t take up floor space and can hide
cables from sight.
Let’s take a look at some of the coolest and most creative ways to mount your TV, whether you’re doing-it-yourself or calling in a professional. There are
many different ways to get innovative with this and the use of motors and other machinery means that just about anything you can imagine can be
done.
Hidden And Out Of Sight
It doesn’t get much more high-tech than this. A popular option in a lot of modern homes, the hidden TV can work in a variety of ways. Whether the television folds
out of the wall or ceiling, appears from behind a mirror or painting or even pops out of the floor, we love the idea as it frees up space like nothing else! A good technician shouldn’t have any
problems setting this up without any poor TV reception
solutions needed down the track. The television usually appears/folds out by pressing a button on a remote which in our opinion is extremely
cool
Mounted on a Dividing Wall
Televisions are usually mounted on or placed next to a wall, however having the TV in the middle of the room like this makes for quite an interesting look. This
is a clever option if the shape of the room is large or particularly long. In the above image you can see the contrast between the TV and dividing shelf wall makes for an interesting look. Speak to a
decorator or wall mount service provider for ideas on how to make this work.
Above the Fireplace
There’s nothing quite like snuggling up in front of the fire and watching a good movie and this set-up is taylor-made for just that! Mounted just above the
mantle, the position of this television is quite popular nowadays. Think about the colour scheme too - in this example the TV doesn’t take too much away from the rest of the wall as a whole and fits
nicely.
The Minimalist Approach
This is more of an example of how the television can be used almost as a decorative piece and can fit nicely with other furniture and colours. This kind of
composition is a perfect option for the modern home.
The Swivel
Self explanatory really, this rotating mount allows the same TV to be viewed in rooms on other side of the cabinet without having to move it. Pretty neat huh? Not
only does this look awesome but it’s also very practical. With a few adjustments to the example shown, the TV can be also be stowed away to free up the space for other items.
As a Feature Wall
A feature wall can be made with a completely different material to the surrounding walls, or simply a different paint colour. This is a clever way of drawing your
eyes to a certain place and creating a focal point, which makes it the ideal place to mount your television.
Some of these examples are pretty tricky when it comes to setting them up, so if you’ve been inspired by any of the ideas in this article have a chat to a
professional unless you’re quite the handyman! Affordable TV wall mounts are provided by a wide large of providers in Brisbane.

For those upgrading to a new television or a television service such as digital Freeview or satellite television it can be an exciting time. No doubt you just want to unpack your new equipment and
set it up as quickly as possible to you up running. However there can be unseen dangers when doing things the wrong way, especially when it comes to electronic devices in the home. From TV wall
mounting to antenna installation, here is a quick guide on how to avoid the dangers and have a trouble-free installation. One of the first things you should be doing when installing an antenna is
checking the quality and type of the bracket the antenna is fixed to. If you are using the existing antenna and simply want to connect the new digital antenna to it, check it for damage and wear and
see if you need to repair it. There is a lot of wasted time and money in installing a new antenna only for the old bracket to end up being faulty.
Use safety precautions at all times when on the roof
It is very important to note that you should be using good ladder safety throughout your installation and have all of the required safety equipment whilst you are doing
your work. Use rechargeable drills and power tools if necessary. As wires and leads spread over multiple levels and out of windows whilst working up a ladder is just asking for trouble.
If you are in any doubt whatsoever about your antenna installation abilities, don’t hesitate to call a professional and have them assess the situation. You could end up
saving money on repairs and replacement parts if you end up making a mistake, so seek professional advice the instant you feel out of your depth.
When it comes to wall mounting your TV, there are numerous things to think about before you attempt to do so. It isn’t just a case of screwing the holes on the back of the television to the wall,
there are also hidden dangers when it comes to the electronic cables hidden behind your walls.
Hidden electric cables within the walls
You can purchase power cable detectors at your local electronics shop that will allow you to detect if the wall you want to drill through it holding any cables so you
are sure to be safe before you drill. When you set out to wall mount a TV, check that firstly your television is compatible for wall mounting. You will see it noted in the manual for your television
and will be evident by the placement of multiple screw holes mounted to a metal plate behind your television.
You will need to purchase a special TV wall mount for the model of your television, so that the weight of the television is taken into account. Don’t just simply buy any old mounting bracket, as you
could lose your television, or your wall, in the process!
Choosing the right type of wall
Another important part or the process to think about is the type of wall you wish to mount your television to. You should always mount your television to a strong and sturdy wall, especially if your
television is large and heavy. Televisions, or anything heavy should never be mounted on plasterboard walls, unless they are positioned so that the attachment bracket can be drilled into the joists
within the wall.
Alternatively, there are specialist screws and wall plugs that can be attached to plasterboard to give a secure hold, but again, plasterboard cannot support heavy
weights such as extremely large televisions. If you are in any doubt about your wall surfaces, a local TV wall mount specialist will be able to guide you in the right direction
However you decide to mount your television, you can take advantage of one of the cleanest setups and the best views for your particular television room. TV wall mounts are a great addition for
anyone looking to create a home theatre setup and allow you to relax in style and watch your favourite movies with added comfort and minimal clutter!

While at first it might seem like a good idea to DIY your TV wall mounting job, you could be in for a lot more trouble than it’s worth. While trying to mount your TV to a wall in your home
yourself, there are a whole range of issues you are likely to encounter, and a number of risks you take when fixing and fitting your TV.
Tools and Skills
To mount a TV correctly you will need a whole host of tools, and the knowledge to use them correctly. This will include a stud finder, a power drill, screws and
screwdrivers and a level. Chances are you will very rarely use these tools in everyday life and purchasing them will set you back a significant amount of money, not to mention the time it will take
to be confident enough to use them.
Installation Complications
TV wall mounts and TV wall brackets come in a whole host of shapes and sizes so it’s a good idea to hire someone who is professionally trained as even the most simple looking brackets can run into
issues. If you have a professional TV mount installation technician, they will also be able to help you install new outlets if yours are in impractical locations as they are licensed
electricians.
Heavy TVs
Even the lightest TV set can still cause a great deal of damage. Without professional knowledge it is hard to tell if a wall will support the weight of a TV and locating
the best place to fix it to the wall is difficult and so you could end up damaging both the house, the TV and its surroundings. This is an especially important point if there are small children or
pets around who could be hurt by falling objects.
Electrical Hazards
Installing a TV mount gets your TV up off the floor and creates much more space in a room, and gives a sense of tidiness, so the last thing you want is cables hanging everywhere. TV wall mount installation professionals are trained to help you conceal all of your cables inside the wall, this kind of thing
should never be attempted unless you are a certified electrician as incorrect electrical installation can cause a number of hazards and can even result in house fires.Professionals are trained and
certified to help you find the best spot to hang your TV, they know how to fix it to the wall so it will stay in place, they are able to position it so it’s level and looks great and they can safely
conceal all your cables and outlets without leaving a mess or creating hazards. If you’re taking on a TV wall mounting project, consider hiring a professional TV wall mount installer who can get your
home theatre up and running without the risk of something going wrong.

So you have bought a brand new 3D TV and you’re wondering how best to set it up, but a simple TV table isn’t really going to cut it. Installing a wall-mount TV can completely change the total
outlook of your room, leaving you with more free space and an area that is much easier to tidy.
A simple wall mount kit comes with two mounting hands which are joined with your TV, and a wide bracket frame which is attached to the wall. The mounting hands are locked with the bracket frames,
which fits and secures your TV with your chosen wall.
Before setting up, choose the appropriate wall where you are going to mount your TV. Measure the size and height of your TV that will match you’re watching and sitting
level. Each and every interaction that you will be having with your TV will relate you’re sitting and watching, therefore comfort while viewing should be the biggest priority in your mind.
Secondly be sure you have all the necessary hardware and cables that will be needed for completing the installation. Then you will have to select the appropriate and
desirable wall mount bracket that will fit your TV according to its size and weight.
Types of Wall mounting TV brackets
There are several types of brackets giving you different ways to display your TV. You might want to fix it to the wall with a tilting mechanism that allows a TV mounted
higher on the wall to be angled perfectly for couch viewing, there are also ultra-thin mounting options which allows the TV to sit as close to the wall as possible, or you may want to display your TV
with a Low Profile - Just remember that these brackets can’t be adjusted once mounted. You might want to consider an articulating mount where the TV is attached to wall bracket but can be pulled away
from the wall and can be moved left and right. There are many brackets to choose from to make it easy for you to get the effect you desire like swivel, ceiling, and platform and under cabinet
mounts.
Installing a wall Mount TV
Let us show you the installation with the simplest installation bracket attached with two arms.
Before starting it’s essential to find out stud inside your wall with the help of a stud finder. Studs are typically around 16 to 24 inches apart. Mark the places where they are located and use a
level to determine where they will sit so the TV is placed properly on the wall.
Line the frame up with the stud marks that you made on the wall to check the exact measurements and drill your screws in.
After that put the frame up lining up the holes and make sure that the bolts actually get in the wall through your frame. Then fit the bolts tightly so that they are secure.Recheck again and the
frame is ready to hold the weight of your TV.
Put the two arms on the back of the TV, for this you first need to measure where the top or bottom of the arms are going to be. Attach the frame arms on the back part of
your TV carefully, making sure everything is very secure. Once this is done, the hooks provided on the security lock arms will fit over the hook holder shields at the top of the frame on the wall.
There are security lock screws below the frame which will hold your TV securely. Put the screws there but don’t lock it just yet.
Hold the TV up and place it carefully so that the hooks are over the frame and they are locked hanging. Check from the back that they are exactly placed. Check the
placement of the TV from distance, so that it’s centred and level. The last thing to do is to lock the screws - sit below your TV with a screw driver and lock the bolts in place.
You’re finally finished! Sit back and enjoy your favourite show on your fantastic new TV.
Of course, if this all sounds too hard, remember you can always hire professionals to do the job for you so you don’t have to deal with the mess and fuss DIY installation can cause.

If you are in the market for a brand new television, 2015 looks set to be the best year to splash the cash to upgrade. With notable sets coming out from the top manufacturers, as well as a whole
host of new-fangled technology packed into the thinnest screens ever, let’s take a look at some of the most popular televisions available right now, as well as those special purchases that have the
wow factor you may have been dreaming of.
In this TV buying guide 2015, you will discover a range of televisions that offer the viewer the very best image quality, as well as a range of added extras that will boost your viewing pleasure into
overdrive. From 3D televisions, Ultra HD sets, as well as curved screens, only the very best will make this TV buyers guide, to save you time and effort hunting for the best of the best.
There are a number of features to look out for when purchasing a new set, and although some features may appeal more to some rather than others, certain functions will be universally appealing. If
it is a 3D television you are after, then by all means go for it, but contrast ratios, up-scaling and the quality and type of 3D glasses will be of importance.
Know the Size of your Room
The very first thing to think about when shopping for a new television is how big your room is and how that can have an impact on your viewing pleasure. Many people buy too big a television for
their room and end up with an entertainment room dominated by a large screen. Know that there is an optimum viewing distance when watching a screen, which may mean that having an Ultra HD television
may be a little overboard for your tiny city pad.
The majority of new flat screen televisions are perfect for wall mounting, but not all televisions come with a dedicated
wall mount. Ensure that your television has built-in brackets to be used on a wall, which will make the whole process easier. Why not get a professional to take care of the wall and you can
enjoy your films and television shows from a whole different angle.
Look for High Refresh Rates and Contrast Ratios
In the past, many televisions suffered from low refresh rates that made the pictures on screen appear to be fuzzy when watching fast moving content, such as sport. A high refresh rate will
minimise this annoying side-effect of television, and will be noticeable when watching sport or playing video games.
Having a high contrast ratio helps make your television screen burst into life, with vivid colours and black and white really standing out. LED televisions make the best of their localised dimming
feature to give the viewer the best results
Choose a Screen that Uses the Latest Technology
Plasmas, LCD and LED: The range of different technologies used in creating screens has evolved into a selection of tech that can have a big impact on the quality of the images. Plasma screens use
a gas to show images and have a great benefit in giving high contrast ratios and smooth image transitioning.
LCD screens are a proven technology to display crisp and clear images on a very thin panel that use less energy than plasma, and do not suffer from screen burn unlike the plasma screens. LED
screens however are the latest technology that mixes the best of both worlds. LED screens use less energy than plasma or LCD displays, as well as having high contrast ratios and pixels so compact
that they are hardly visible.
Consider your Budget Wisely
It is easy to get carried away when buying a television and opt for the largest screen. But this isn’t a necessity when dealing with image quality and the accessories you may be able to get
bundled with a new set. Consider the smaller televisions that use newer technology, such as LED screens that give you the best image quality, a longer life and less power consumption.
Added to these benefits of a smaller television with better image quality, you may be able to get a free bundled speaker system, whether it be a simple two speaker set-up or a full surround sound
system. Adding value to your purchase will go a long way in enjoying your television and saving you the purchase of extra kit.Ensure that your television has multiple HDMI input and outputs to ensure
you can connect your games consoles, Blu-Ray players and other multimedia playback devices to your set. Choose a set that comes under your budget and you can spend the left over cash on your
favourite games and films, meaning you can start enjoying your new television straight out of the box.

With nearly every home now containing large flat screen televisions, satellite receivers, games consoles, PVRs and DVD players, the problem of how to deal with all of those cables may occur on a
regular basis. Large television sets and home entertainment systems may overpower smaller rooms, and with a host of cables and wiring falling out the back of the television, many people are searching
for a way to tidy it all up a bit.
Simple Cable Tidy Zip Ties
One of the best ways to hide TV cables is to use a few cable ties around the back of the television set. Gather together each cable that comes
out of your television and use a cable tie to keep them in place. Apply this method to all of your devices and you will notice that the results will not only look tidier, but will also help you keep
track of each cable.
Many home entertainment systems can be a confusing combination of cables, wires and cords, so by labelling each cable where you tie it, you can keep check on your system if anything goes wrong, or
if you need to call out a professional when installing new equipment or making repairs.
External Wall Trunking for Hiding Cables
One of the most used methods for hiding TV cables is to use wall trunking to help put all of your cabling issues into a single place. External
trunking consists of long plastic boxes with a lid that can be cut to size, these are then attached to a wall and used to route cables through to clean up the overall look. This method is often used
for those who have a wall mount TV and need to hide cables. As most televisions that are mounted on a wall are often relatively high up, you will often have to deal with unsightly cables and cords.
If you use external trunking, all of those cables can be fed through a small tube or box that can be painted over.
Hide TV Cables in Wall for Best Results
Internal wall cables are a great choice for those who want to make cables and cords completely invisible. In this method, a channel is cut into your wall running from the rear of your television
to a wall socket. Metal trunking is then drilled into the wall to protect the cables that you wish to feed to your television. The top cap is then placed over the metal trunking and the channel is
covered up with plaster and painted to hide the modification.
With this method, your cables will be completely hidden from view, and give the appearance of a floating television with no cables coming from it at all. This is a great
choice for those with little space in their living room or entertainment room, as the cables can be fed to a media cabinet across the room or to another room entirely.
Using Wireless Technology to Hide TV Cables
The technology used to send wireless television signals around the home has greatly improved in recent years and now allows for full HD streaming from your satellite receiver or games console to
your television, cable-free.
Many different systems are available, but offer the same functions for watching a device on your television. Some systems use radio frequencies to send the signals through walls and floors to
allow you to watch any device on any television in your home, whilst others can use your own WIFI signal to send the images. A simple receiver
is plugged into your television, whilst the device is attached to the satellite receiver or games console.
Use a Cable-Free System to Expand Your Home Entertainment Unit
Using cable free systems are a great way to enhance the atmosphere of your living room or entertainment centre. With just a large screen television in the room and a surround sound system to
encompass you, a truly immersive experience awaits.
With the addition of a cable free installation, your home entertainment system will look great and take up less space. Getting rid of those messy cable, you can create a hassle-free system that is
easy to maintain and add to.

In the past, television reception was a case of delicately tuning into your favourite station to enjoy the few channels that were available at the time. Today, in the digital age, tuning your
television is often done automatically within your television or set-top box. This has made poor TV reception solutions that little bit harder
to find. However, there are at least 5 simple things you can do to improve reception.
1) Boost Your Signal
Suffering from drop-outs in your picture? Do you suffer from poor television
reception issues? You could be suffering from a weak signal once it gets into your antenna cabling. With the simple addition of a TV signal booster, you can often resolve all of your digital TV
reception problems in an instant.
Signal boosters are small devices that are powered by a low voltage charger, that sit between your antenna cable and the cable to your television. The booster can be placed at any point in the
cable line, but are mostly used between the antenna and the television. The booster amplifies the signal strength, sending a much stronger signal to your television.
2) Upgrade Your Antenna
In many cases of poor digital TV reception solutions arise from a change in your receiving equipment. For those who live in areas which have an inherently poor television reception, a simple change
of your antenna may solve all of your reception issues.
Standard television antennas are intended to work in a narrow field of the radio spectrum, to pick up all of the channels that
are close to each other within that spectrum. A wide-band aerial or antenna is used when multiple signals are coming from multiple broadcast antennas, and can easily pick-up all of the signals that
are in your area of broadcast.
3) Simplify Your Cabling and Routing
Many people who suffer from bad digital television reception have multiple televisions and devices that need an antenna feed. In many cases, it is this routing of the cables and the splitting of signals which can cause issues with reception and television outages in the home.
Simplify your cabling into a simple design that uses a splitter at the base of the antenna, rather than a home routed system that splits off from each socket. Each time a cable is split into two
to provide a signal to multiple televisions; it weakens the signal, and therefore increases the chances of loss of picture. Split your cables at the antenna, and use signal boosters to improve signal
gain and reception.
4) Use a Signal Detector to Fine-Tune Your Reception
If you are having issues with your digital TV cutting off all of the time, why not invest in a simple device that will make your television viewing much more pleasurable. A television signal detector will plug into your antenna and give you pointers as to which direction the signal is coming from in your area.
By turning, or raising your antenna, you will be able to see a visual display of the signal strength of each multiplex of channels, giving you a precise location of your local antenna, and what
services it offers. Simply move your antenna into the correct position and stabilise it when you have the strongest signal.
5) Use High-Quality Cables and Connectors
Whilst your switch to digital television may have been made with the promise of crystal clear quality pictures and surround sound audio, your old television antenna equipment may not be as up-to-date
as your new television of set-top box.
Ensure that high quality coaxial cabling is used throughout the antenna to TV route, and ensure that all of the connectors and
distribution boxes use interference-free shielding. Things to look out for are copper-core cables, oxygen-free cables and gold plated connectors to ensure the signal strength doesn’t drop out due to a single, damaged item.
Getting a great picture shouldn’t have to be a painstaking adventure into the world of technical jargon, so if you keep things simple with your television antenna, cables and distribution, you
shouldn’t have any serious issues. A good antenna should last anything up to 20 years, so keeping your equipment in good condition is vital for the continuation of your television services, and
saying goodbye to poor television reception issues, for good.

Televisions have made huge breakthroughs since the technologies inception and have now grown to become a part of everyday life in the modern world. Modern televisions have made great strides in
picture quality, sound quality and the number of channels available to us, but there is one other major leap forward that is becoming more popular, as televisions get ‘smarter’.
Smart TVs are not a recent invention either, with many television manufacturers adding innovative technology into television sets over the past
15 years. Whilst many manufacturers had created dedicated set top boxes to give us instant access to thousands of channels, the ability to watch videos encoded into MP4 and other formats, as well as the ability to record, pause and rewind live television.
No Need for All of Those Set Top Boxes!
Smart TVs take this innovation in the sector further, by placing all of the abilities of the latest and greatest set top boxes into the television itself. This not only saves on buying an extra box to go under your television, but
it also makes the user experiences friendlier than ever. ‘Connected’ televisions are the latest innovation in the market and allow for the user to connect to the internet and access a number of
‘apps’ such as those found on smartphones. These smart TVs have a smartphone style graphics chip and CPU inside them, and often run on dedicated software such as Google’s Android, as well as Samsung’s dedicated Smart TV OS.

different Smart TVs application stores include Facebook, Netflix, as well as a host of photo-sharing and social media websites that can be accessed via your television. One of the most innovative
ideas to come to Smart TVs is the inclusion on some TV sets of a camera. This means that you can connect to services such as Skype and hold a video conversation
with friends and family over the internet from the comfort of your own sofa. Some of the best Smart TVs also include gesture control of the
television by waving your hand at the screen you can get it to change channel, mute and perform other inventive commands.
Play the Latest Games, Watch the Latest Movies
Many of the newest Smart TVs have the ability to play games on the system. Whilst televisions that can run Google’s Android operating system can have access to the Google Play Store to download
films, music, games and even more apps, Apple has a similar system with its iTunes television service. Smart TVs are the latest innovation that can bring even more television, films, music and games
to your television than ever before. Whilst the television you are watching today may not be too ‘dumb’, a Smart TV will let you do away with all of those set top boxes that are just cluttering up
your entertainment room.
