With nearly every home now containing large flat screen televisions, satellite receivers, games consoles, PVRs and DVD players, the problem of how to deal with all of those cables may occur on a regular basis. Large television sets and home entertainment systems may overpower smaller rooms, and with a host of cables and wiring falling out the back of the television, many people are searching for a way to tidy it all up a bit.

Simple Cable Tidy Zip Ties

One of the best ways to hide TV cables is to use a few cable ties around the back of the television set. Gather together each cable that comes out of your television and use a cable tie to keep them in place. Apply this method to all of your devices and you will notice that the results will not only look tidier, but will also help you keep track of each cable.

Many home entertainment systems can be a confusing combination of cables, wires and cords, so by labelling each cable where you tie it, you can keep check on your system if anything goes wrong, or if you need to call out a professional when installing new equipment or making repairs.

External Wall Trunking for Hiding Cables

One of the most used methods for hiding TV cables is to use wall trunking to help put all of your cabling issues into a single place. External trunking consists of long plastic boxes with a lid that can be cut to size, these are then attached to a wall and used to route cables through to clean up the overall look. This method is often used for those who have a wall mount TV and need to hide cables. As most televisions that are mounted on a wall are often relatively high up, you will often have to deal with unsightly cables and cords. If you use external trunking, all of those cables can be fed through a small tube or box that can be painted over.

Hide TV Cables in Wall for Best Results

Internal wall cables are a great choice for those who want to make cables and cords completely invisible. In this method, a channel is cut into your wall running from the rear of your television to a wall socket. Metal trunking is then drilled into the wall to protect the cables that you wish to feed to your television. The top cap is then placed over the metal trunking and the channel is covered up with plaster and painted to hide the modification.

With this method, your cables will be completely hidden from view, and give the appearance of a floating television with no cables coming from it at all. This is a great choice for those with little space in their living room or entertainment room, as the cables can be fed to a media cabinet across the room or to another room entirely.

Using Wireless Technology to Hide TV Cables

The technology used to send wireless television signals around the home has greatly improved in recent years and now allows for full HD streaming from your satellite receiver or games console to your television, cable-free.

Many different systems are available, but offer the same functions for watching a device on your television. Some systems use radio frequencies to send the signals through walls and floors to allow you to watch any device on any television in your home, whilst others can use your own WIFI signal to send the images. A simple receiver is plugged into your television, whilst the device is attached to the satellite receiver or games console.

Use a Cable-Free System to Expand Your Home Entertainment Unit

Using cable free systems are a great way to enhance the atmosphere of your living room or entertainment centre. With just a large screen television in the room and a surround sound system to encompass you, a truly immersive experience awaits.

With the addition of a cable free installation, your home entertainment system will look great and take up less space. Getting rid of those messy cable, you can create a hassle-free system that is easy to maintain and add to.
